Open the Book takes place in Sessay Church of England Primary school and Sowerby Primary school on four Monday afternoons in each school term. Open the Book is a nationwide initiative and part of the Bible Society (see https://www.biblesociety.org.uk/get-involved/open-the-book/).
It involves teams of volunteers from local churches presenting dramatised Bible stories in primary schools. The Sowerby Open the Book team includes people from the Methodist Church and St. Oswald's C of E Church, led by St Oswald's Children and Young People's Worker. The team enjoy doing the dramatisations nearly as much as the children enjoy watching them!
